POLICE CHIEF
NORWALK, IOWA
The City of Norwalk, Iowa, (pop. estimated at
10,000) is seeking candidates for the position of Chief of Police. This
13 sworn member and one support person department has an annual budget of $1.6
million. Norwalk is a suburb of Des Moines; Iowa's capital city.
The Police Chief works under the general direction of the City Manager but
exercises significant independent judgment and initiative.
The city is seeking a proven law enforcement
leader that can work collaboratively with other city departments to realize the
goals of the City Council. Norwalk is located in Warren County, and is
experiencing significant development and growth.
An Associate's degree is required for this
position with a four year degree preferred. Graduation from advanced
management programs such as the FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute
or similar programs is also preferred. Ten years experience in a law
enforcement agency with five years supervisory experience at the sergeant level
or above is required.
The salary range for the position is $80K - $95K
with an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, life and

and vision and deferred compensation options. The Chief of Police is a
FLSA exempt position.
